Economic Crisis and Employment in Ireland

Happy 2018, Austerity Readers! We at AltAusterity are hoping to post much happier news this year, and we resolve to not miss any more deadlines….We need to bring back some responsibility to our house!

Our first content release for 2018 is the full paper by Dr. James Wickham and Alicja Bobek on labour market and employment trajectories in Ireland during and after the 2008 crisis. This research - conducted for the Think Tank for Action on Social Change (TASC) in Ireland - highlights how the Irish labour market has become more polarized, with some growth in 'lovely' jobs at the high end of pay and quality and significant growth in 'lousy' jobs at the low end - hollowing out the 'middle'.
