New data sets at the RDC:
In the upcoming weeks we will be receiving new data sets and surveys at the McMaster Research Data Centre. Please see the information below. Researchers interested in accessing these data sets are encouraged to submit proposals!

Canadian Internet Use Survey (CIUS)
The Canadian Internet Use Survey (CIUS) examines household Internet access and individual online behaviours. This cross-sectional survey has 2 components. The household component measures the speed, type, and availability of home Internet connections. The individual component selects a household member and measures the scope and extent of their online behaviour, including their intensity and frequency of use, specific uses (e.g. purchasing goods and services), and issues such as online security practices. The target population was Canadians over age 16, living in the 10 provinces. The final sample sizes were 30,817 for the household component and 22,615 for the individual component.

The results of the CIUS are used to evaluate policies and programs related to Internet uptake and usage barriers, high speed access, and electronic commerce. The results are also used for benchmark and comparison studies by international agencies such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), or for market research by the private sector. Researchers interested in Internet usage on an individual or household level, or in information and communications technology, may find this data set useful.

The McMaster RDC will be accepting proposals for work with this data. For further details, please go to the information page on CIUS at the Statistics Canada website: http://www23.statcan.gc.ca/imdb/p2SV.pl?Function=getSurvey&SDDS=4432
